The Journey to Making a Movie
The journey of *Eire We Go* began in 2009, when I took my first trip to Ireland with an original production from the Gaelic American Club of Fairfield, CT—and instantly fell in love. The people, the culture, and the breathtaking landscape left a lasting impression. Inspired by that experience, I wrote a 15-minute play called *The Drive* in 2014, which went on to win a playwriting contest. In 2016, the GAC planned another tour of original theater in Ireland and chose my piece to represent. I expanded it into a 50-minute one-act titled * Forty Shades of Green Tour*, which premiered in Ireland that same year.
By 2018, I set my sights on taking the show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019. While fundraising, we brought the production to stages in New York City (Hudson Valley Guild Theater and Manhattan Repertory Theater) and throughout Connecticut. In 2019, we made it to the Fringe, where we played to sold-out audiences and received rave reviews.
After returning home, I realized I wanted to see this story come to life on the big screen. I spent the next four years diving deep into screenwriting—taking courses, reading every book I could find, and learning the craft inside and out. The result is a completed screenplay I’m incredibly proud of. Instead of shopping it around, I decided to produce it myself—another exciting adventure.
In 2023, I launched my production company, Zuludog Films. *Eire We Go* is now a registered LLC and ready to be filmed. The screenplay has already earned recognition, winning *Best Comedy Feature Screenplay* at the 2024 Georgia Comedy Film Festival and becoming a finalist at five other film festivals around the world.
🍀 By the way, Eire is the Gaelic name for Ireland 🍀
